Famsville is pleased to announce the admission of Damilola Osinuga into the partnership with effect from January 1, 2019. Damilola will lead the firm’s Dispute Resolution, Maritime and Transport and Private Wealth Services practice groups. Prior to joining Famsville, Damilola has worked on significant local and multi-jurisdictional transactions spanning shipping, aviation, and finance.
He specialises in transportation and commercial litigation and has litigated on an extensive range of issues, including that pertaining to maritime, banking and finance, contracts, insolvency, commercial law transactions and general litigation both at trial and appellate levels. Damilola has advised several clients on the structuring of private wealth services. He has over the years gained invaluable experience working at the forefront of international maritime transactions valued at millions of United States Dollars, and involving a syndicate of international counsel.
He has advised extensively on the structure and implementation of complex multi-million dollar transactions and matters involving cross-border joint ventures (to take advantage of the Nigerian Oil & Gas Industry Content Development Act and the Nigerian Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act), ship and aircraft finance and lease, registration of ship and aircraft mortgages and interests, corporate restructuring, maritime claims and casualties – including litigation and arbitration, regulatory compliance and other wider ranging issues within the Nigerian aviation, logistics, shipping and oil services industries.
Damilola’s expertise covers most aspects of shipping, with particular emphasis on charterparty disputes, carriage of goods by sea, and sale & purchase (both contentious and non-contentious). He also acts frequently in insurance claims for chartering and shipping agents.
Damilola is an alumnus of Swansea University, Wales and currently a Doctoral researcher at the World Maritime University, Sweden. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration UK, International Association of Marine and Shipping Professionals, Institute of Corporate and Business Management, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and the Nigerian Bar Association.
